We live breath and sleep automotive paint!
Though many "paint correction" services exist, not all are equal. It is a common misconception that a 3-Stage Paint Correction and Ceramic Pro package is the same across all detailing services, but nothing could be further from the truth. The preparation before a ceramic coating is important, and many different factors can change the results. Does the facility use spot lights to assess their paint correction? Are before and after results demonstrated on a regular basis on their social media? What products are used to correct the paint? What ceramic coating product was used? What is the experience of the technician performing the correction? If the cost of a correction and coating service is low, it can be a clear indication of one of two things. The cost of their products may be low, and thus lower quality, and two their labour cost is low which can indicate either their technicians are inexperienced, or less time is being spent on a vehicle.
At our facility, no vehicle leaves with clusters of defect, barring reasonable factors such as low clear coat. During our process, we regularly identify red flags such as repainted panels, previous polishing attempts. We verify our findings with our high end, lab grade paint meter. The lower panels of your vehicle get the same care as the upper panels. A completed full paint correction at our facility can be inspected in all lighting, and be visibly pure. On average, our paint corrections, and ceramic coating process takes 2-3 business days. We are trained to safely use aggressive methods to remove deep defects that other shops may say are not removable, and are able to get a pure finish free of haze, and micro marring, even on the most delicate finishes.
We pride ourselves on serving customers with very high expectations.
Our pricing may not be the most competitive though package deals can be made if multiple services are being done. If you are looking for the best deal in the city, we are unfortunately not the service for you. If you are looking for a shop that will take the time to remove and improve each defect on every square inch of your paint, with the utmost care and precision, we are for you. If you are looking for a team that cares about the work they put out in the city, you have found the right place. We look at every vehicle we complete as a rolling resume of the quality we strive for. Our services take days, not hours, to complete, and dozens of man ours are spent improving, and protecting your vehicle. We unequivocally stand behind our work, and offer no hassle in house warranty.
We sell on service and quality, not on price.
Our straight forward, results oriented approach is apparent on our online presenence, including social media. We never "put on airs" by posting overly edited, exotic cars in poor lighting, as this does not show anything more than your skills as a photographer, not a detailer. You will not find gimmicky, overproduced content on our pages. Rather, we show the true results, process, and behind the scenes of our work. We demonstrate dated vehicles (as well as high end vehicles), in all their glory, in the direct sunlight. When choosing a facility, the results are the most important!

Paint correction is the process of removing defects from an automotive finish. This is (usually) done with collective friction via machine polishers and pads, abrasion via aluminum oxide based compounds and/or fine grit sandpapers. Other tools and accessories may be used throughout the process (meters, lighting, etc).
Contrary to popular belief, the mechanism of action is done by removal of a small fraction of clearcoat. Under a microscope, a scratch, or single swirl mark, is in fact a miniature divot, in the automotive clear coat. Contrary to popular belief, we are not removing the scratch itself, but a very small fraction of the clear coat around it.
Though results are glamorous, true paint correction is a labour intensive, messy, and health hazardous process. It involves hours of machine polishing, with abrasive chemicals.
A quality paint correction is extremely important before doing any sort of "LSP" such as ceramic coating, or paint protection film. Paint correction brings out the full potential, and gloss of a finish, and a ceramic coating protects, and enhancing it.
Preparation of an automotive surface is part of the paint correction process, but in itself is not “paint correction”. With modern vehicles, “paint” correction has little to do with the actual “pigmented paint”, but more so the clearcoat. A tech is usually dealing with a “Clearcoat Correction” rather than paint correction, unless a vehicle is basecoat only (eg. lacquer, or single stage).
“Scratches” or “Swirls” are microscopic cavities in an automotive finish. The process as a whole has one goal; to remove as little material as possible, to achieve a “leveled” scratch free surface. When done correctly, the process is perfectly safe.
Taking paint measurements, thoroughly inspecting the surface, and researching the vehicles history are all good precautions to ensure a safe paint correction.
Paint correction 50/50 results
We use professional grade products. There is no universal system (in our opinion) for all paint types. Some paints react better to certain buffing compounds and machines than others. We use a variation of Menzerna, 3M, Sonax, and Wolfgang polishing compounds. Panels are frequently inspected with an aggressive 50/50 mix of alcohol, to remove potential "hiders". All products contain zero fillers, and are sourced directly from the manufacture to avoid dillution.
We use the latest machines on the market including brands such as Rupes, Flex, and Makita. We have over a dozen machine polishers of varying size in order to work on the most intricate body styles. There is no standard paring of machines that we use. Certain vehicles such as exotics require smaller, more versatile tools, and larger vehicles require machines that tackle larger surface areas.
Also, we use both styles of polishers; rotary and dual action. The rotary polisher is a tool that many novice detailers fear. At Toronto Buffing Inc, we are masters of this tool, which allows us to achieve much greater results than with just the standard, dual action polishers.
This being said, all the finest products and machines mean nothing in the hands of someone that can not use them. We have mastered flawless finishes on every type of paint, and know exactly what combination of products and tools will be required to reach the desired result, as well as the limitations of paint correction.
We often take measurements of a vehicle before we proceed to machine. Alternatively, a trained technician can tell the thickness of clearcoat by eye. It is important not to solely rely on readings from paint meters, as various techniques can be done during a repainting process to yield an end thickness that is within factory range. By eye, and feel, our techs are able to gauge and compare the strength, elasticity, and clarity of the paint, which can give true light to the nature of a finish. Surprises of repainted panels are often discovered during our paint correction and ceramic coating processes, giving you deeper knowledge into the vehicle you own. Top dollar has been spent on various paint meters capable of measuring on most surface types, but these tools are only useful in conjugation with a skilled paint correction tech.
We use a combination of overhead LED (focused) lighting , paired with several high output standalone LED lights. We also utilize several scan grip battery operated lights for more illusive areas. We place great emphasis on not only correcting upper sections that you will see, but also lower sections you may only notice as the sun is setting. Every job we do must pass the biggest test of all, the sun!
To remove all possible defects from a vehicle, several factors come into play such as paint condition, type, defects, surface area, vehicle geometry, etc. In order to get an accurate time frame for paint correction, vehicles must be assessed in person. Speaking very generally, paint correction can take a minimum of 4 hours (such as a 1 stage polish) , all the way up to 100 hours for larger, heavily defect, and complex jobs (watersanding jobs).
A question we often get asked, is the one above. The reality is, our process does remove a small percentage of your clear coat. However, the amount is often minuscule, ranging from 1-5 percent for a regular paint correction. When done correctly, a paint correction can be done many times during the life of a vehicle. All precautions are taken during the process, such as measuring paint, to ensure the process is being done safely. We will never remove an excessive amount of clear coat, and will make such executive decisions during the correction process. Due to the fact that we are removing a small percentage of clear coat, we often recommend applying a permanent ceramic coating afterwards to compensate for the minor amount of material removed, while adding many benefits outlined below!
Want to protect your corrected paint with the best technology available? Ceramic coatings are your answer! These nano-ceramic coatings are liquid crystal chemicals that are applied to the surface of a vehicle. They are measurable additional layers, that are flexible and form a covalent bond with a surface. They possess many characteristics and benefits.
Incredibly hydrophobic, they assist with preventing swirl marks by increasing surface hardness, acting as a sacrificial layer to defects, as well as combat the harshness of the environment. We have options ranging from 5 years to 15 years (Lifetime) at our Vaughan location.
You may notice that we do not offer 1 year, and 2 year coatings. Such products do nothing to increase actual hardness of clear coat, nor add a hardened sacrificial layer, and are merely for water beading. It is our strong belief that such products are a disservice to clients, as the protection factor is non existent, and they can enjoy hydrophobic behaviour by applying a spray coating on their own. We have a firm belief of doing things the right way, or not doing them at all!
High end professional ceramic coatings can provide a "glass" like look, because in essence, we are installing a permanent layer of liquid glass on your clear coat!
Ceramic coatings are traditionally composed of Silica (also known as SiO2, or Silicon Dioxide ), and chemical solvents. The quality of the silicon dioxide, as well as the solvents have an incredible impact on the quality of a coating. In relation, the ratio of SiO2 and solvents play a major role in product quality.
An ideal ceramic coating uses high quality key components, as well as the correct ratios. This is why some "ceramic coatings" are sold online for extremely low prices. They are a ceramic coating only by meeting the criteria of having Si02 and Solvents, but offer little to no protection or longevity.
Increased Swirl Resistance:
Conventional waxes do not offer any protection against swirl marks and physical wear on a vehicles paint. In fact, waxes have been used for decades to hide paint issues. Ceramic coating service at Toronto Buffing are much different, as they contain zero fillers and hiding effect. A coating can increase the hardness of a surface, resulting in a finish that is more difficult to damage. Ceramic coatings are ideal for those who have a vehicle with a delicate paint finish. It is important to understand that these ceramic products are not 100 percent scratch proof, but enables a surface to stay defect defect free for substantially longer than an unprotected surface.
Sacrificial Invisible Layer
With coatings, it's not only about swirl resistance. Another positive attribute to ceramic coatings is the fact that it adds a sacrificial layer of protection to your paint, that is able to take the brute of the damage, while keeping your original paint intact. These coatings can greatly vary in thickness depending on product and application, but generally can add anywhere from 0.5-2.5 mils. Coatings may get worn and damaged, but at a substantially slower rote. The key concept is that your original paint or clear coat is still protected.
Hydrophobic (Liquid Resistant Layer)
This factor is one of our client's favorite. A coated surface becomes hydrophobic. The science behind this water beading effect has to with the actual contact angle of the coating at a molecular angle. Different coatings have different contact angles, thus a variation in hydrophobic effect. Hydrophobic paints are surfaces that lack the ability to get wet.
Increased Gloss and Reflection
Quartz is a sapphire crystal, and most ceramic nano coatings are quartz based. This is what gives a treated vehicle the intense level of gloss. Some coatings even boast the ability to reduce orange peel via layering, such as Ceramic Pro. A key benefit is that a coated surface retains the same level of gloss as the day it was coated, for the duration of the coating.
Increase Ease Cleaning
Gone are the times of spending hours to wash and wax your vehicle. A ceramic coated surface is easier and faster to wash. This is due to some of the previous benefits. First, the hydrophobic properties make it difficult for dirt to adhere to the surface. A thorough rinse is usually enough to get a vast majority of dirt, salt and contamination off the surface. Also, the swirl resistance properties give you more tolerance for wash induced swirl marks, allowing you to worry less when doing a wash on your vehicle. Finally, you can scratch that weekly wax off your to do list, as a coated surface is at its full potential after a regular wash!
Long Term Solution
Ceramic coatings are long term investment solutions. Your initial investment in one of our coating packages saves you money and time. You will not have to do frequent polishes, or waxes, as you would with an unprotected surface. This can amount to thousands of dollars over the course of your vehicle ownership. Less important than the cash savings, is the time savings. For those who spend their Saturday waxing their vehicle can now use this time enjoying their vehicle!
A client who is interested in preserving and/or enhancing their vehicles paint should consider ceramic coating their vehicle. Those who are considering to keep their vehicle for an extended period of time, and those who simply take pride in what they drive should consider protecting their paint.
As mentioned above, ceramic coatings add a sacrificial layer that can take significantly more abuse when compared to naked, factory paint. They improve gloss, and depth, as well as reduce wear and tear.
There are arguments that can be made on performing ceramic coatings in the winter versus the summer/spring. In the GTA, winters can be extremely abusive on paint; thus protection is needed. That being said, spring and summer months have the highest demand for ceramic coating services in Toronto.
Your vehicle should be taken to a shop with a track record for quality and workmanship. The ideal facility will have thorough experience in paint correction, as it is at the foundation of any ceramic coating job. From a consumer perspective, things like customer service, and feedback should be considered in choosing a facility.
Aside from the benefits stated above, ceramic coatings have financial and time saving benefits as well. It is well known that a ceramic coated vehicle stays cleaner longer, and thus does not need to be washed as frequently. A ceramic coating can also add enough thickness to a surface in order to remove the need for panel repaints from minor scratches.
A ceramic coating should be installed on clean automotive paint that has been corrected to its absolute full potential. It should be installed in a controlled, indoor environment. Finally, it should be installed by an individual with a thorough amount of experience installing coatings on various brands of clearcoat.
PPF (paint protection film) is a clear film that’s applied to the surface of your vehicle to protect your paint from rock chips, minor dents, bugs and other road debris keeping your paint unharmed. PPF is a popular choice by customers whom want to preserve their original paint from the inevitabilities of vehicle ownership, such as wear and tear. Commonly used in front end (or other high impact areas) of vehicles where damages mostly occur. We also offer full body PPF packages for ultimate protection and piece of mind. Self healing films are the latest technology in the automotive world. If scratched, the film can be repaired by simply heating the material. The material reflows itself, thus removing the defect.
Audi R8 Bulk Installation PPF
Simply put, Suntek offers one of the best paint protection film on the market. They are industry leaders in the PPF market, offering the highest quality, consistent polyurethane materials. The film is extremely durable, and resist stone chips, swirl marks, scratches, chemicals etc. Their latest product Suntek Reaction, is currently the industry leading product, and the go to material of professional installers world wide. While we are aware that many clients request Xpel paint protection, we no longer use such films due to quality issues. We have found that the clarity, quality of glue and poly, and longevity far exceed Xpel.
You have purchased a new vehicle, and are looking for the best protection on the market. Ceramic coatings are wonderful, but do not protect you against stone chips, and deep scratches. You want to be able to enjoy your vehicle without worrying about damaging the aesthetics via wear and tear. Your search is over ; invest in Paint Protection Film!
Suntek has many benefits over traditional materials. They offer a 10 - 12 year standard warranty on their films . Suntek states: Our film also comes with a full 10-year warranty against yellowing, discoloration, peeling, cracking and hazing. If it fails, we’ll replace it—labor included. With a warranty offering like this, it is clear that this company truly stands behind their product!
In the paint protection film industry, there is a wide range with regards to quality of installs. Many veterans in the business will explain, that it is very rare to have a perfect paint protection film installation. There are many factors that contribute to the end result of a ppf installation. These include quality of the paint, condition of the paint, quality of the film, capability of the installer, and environment. We at Toronto Buffing Inc. have the solutions to bring paint up to a move acceptable standard prior to installation; something lacking in alternative service facilities.
Paint protection film has the tendency to amplify certain defects such as stone chips, and micropitting. With the same token, ppf can in fact “flow” certain deeper defects, and reduce their visibility. It is important to understand the limitations of paint protection film. Prior to commencing our work, a blunt conversation about expectations occurs, ensuring there are no surpises.
At Toronto Buffing Inc, we offer several additional services that can bring your paint to a more acceptable, more suitable level for paint protection film installations. Panel refinishing, or repainting, is highly recommended on panels with moderate to severe stone chips. This process reconditions the entire panel, removing all defects.
Our stone chip repair service can assist in further improving a finish prior to PPF installation. Keep in mind, this service is generally limited in scope, as only certain stone chips can be repaired. In certain cases, we are limited in terms of colour match. Certain parameters must be met in order for a chip repair to have a positive result. As mentioned in our chip repair category, improvement, and protection from corrosion is the goal with any chip repair.
Watersanding can improve certain defects that a standard paint correction can not solve. Issues such as orange peel, dust in clearcoat, and previous touch ups are all items that will be amplified by a paint protection film install. Wetsanding can improve these deficiencies prior to install. It is clear that proper preparation is a major factor to a paint protection film installation.
All possible edges are wrapped with our installation. What sets us apart is we go beyond the typical precut solution, which is especially useful on rare and unique vehicles.
In house technicians will carefully and precisely disassemble when necessary to ensure your PPF installation is wrapped as much as possible. This process is done with extreme care, and is necessary to reduce the chance of dust contamination.
This film is self healing, using EPT (elastomeric polymer technology) . They are products that are solids, with rubber like properties (elastometers). This means that if any swirls or light-medium scratches are inflicted on the surface, they can heal themselves with either the heat of the sun, warm water, or a heat gun. What this means for the client is that you will not have to replace your film frequently once it gets tarnished. In fact, the rate of deterioration is exponentially reduced with this and other technologies in the film.
Another huge benefit to Suntek Ultra PPF is the zero orange peel effect it has. In the past with other materials, customers had to compromise between showing their paints true beauty, and protecting it. The professionals at Suntek have solved this. Traditional films give a slight texture appearance, hindering the gloss and aesthetics of your vehicle. Our install gives you seamless protection; you wont be able to see where the film starts and the paint ends!
Furthermore, another benefit of using Suntek's film is their newest topcoat technology which protects the film. Old school clear bra films yellow, fade, and scar after as little as 1 year of use. This is not the case with Suntek. The film retains its gloss for years with this special clearcoat technology, and protects against environmental contamination. Bugs, tree sap, bird droppings, can be easily removed with a microfiber towel, where as with a normal paint surface, would require thorough decontamination or even polishing!
