Paint Protection Film is a thin, clear material that is composed of plastics, and adhesives. Paint protection film is applied on top of automotive surfaces as protection, and in Toronto, it is the best solution to preserve paint.
Individuals looking for a physical barrier against scratches, rock chips, UV, and the elements should consider protecting their vehicle with PPF. If you have a specialty vehicle, unique or complex colour, or a new vehicle, this protection product is a non-negotiable.
Paint protection film is the only product on the market that can protect automotive paint from physical impacts. It is the only material that features long lasting self healing, meaning things like swirl marks vanish with simple heat. It is a long term, but fully removable product.
PPF can be done during anytime of ownership. Summer, or winter; there are benefits for all seasons in the GTA. Ideally paint protection film should be installed prior to any defect accumulation. Naturally, many buy used vehicles. Toronto Buffing excels in repairing defects prior to paint protection film installations.
Simply put, at Toronto Buffing we first thoroughly clean the vehicle. Next, any defects are remedied through paint correction, chip repair, or panel refinishing. Finally, the paint protection film is installed. Paint protection film is installed with water and soap. The installer lays the material on the wet surface of the vehicle, stretching around the contours. When the film is in position, they squeegee the material to evacuate the water, and promoting the film to bond to the paint.
Keeping with the logic that paint protection film is a long term protection product, PPF should be installed at a shop that has a long positive track record, as well as a facility that uses only the best materials. Toronto Buffing proudly uses only the best materials such as Xpel, Suntek, Stek, and Hexis. We have veteran PPF installers trained to work with the most difficult and intricate vehicles.
Industry standard for quality paint protection film is $2000 (full front end). Quality of PPF is very imperative, as those offering cheap installations ($1400 and below) are very often using no-name brand PPF that fails within ~2 years. Remember, the material cost alone for installing products like Xpel, Hexis, and Suntek on a Front End in Toronto can easily reach $1000. Add shop expenses, and labour, and it can easily reach $1400 for materials and labour alone!
Cheaper PPF in Toronto isn't better, and if it seems too good to be true, it usually is!
Unbaised, we have been testing various materials throughout the years to answer that very question. And the answer is forever changing. In the beginning of our PPF journey, Xpel was the go too film, with amazing longevity and clarity. Times have changed, and we have noticed inconsistencies in the new batches of Xpel Ultimate Plus. Suntek was the next film of choice, with its long lasting self healing, and consistent quality; no complains. In our opinion, in 2025, the best PPF on the market is Hexis Bodyfence. The gloss, clarity, consistency, and lifetime warranty this film boast easily eradicated the competition. Things can change, and we are always watching to see what film is best not for ourselves, but for our clients.
PPF Both Ceramic Coatings, and PPF have their benefits. When it comes to sheer protection, and resistance to damage, paint protection film is the victor. However, paint protection film is not cheap, and more importantly is not appropriate for all vehicles. Ceramic coating tends to have a higher gloss, and more clarity. We normally recommend a combination of PPF and Ceramic Coating for the best of both worlds.
Where other shops search for the cheapest PPF material, we seek the highest quality, irregardless of cost. While 99 percent of current shops in Toronto and Vaughan have decided to go off-shore with their material, we continue to use top brands such as Hexis, Suntek, Xpel, and Stek.
Some shops have strength in ppf installations. Some shops have strength in paint correction. At Toronto Buffing, we have high proficiency in both, and can perfect your paint before protecting it.
Our small but specialized team take great pride in our film installations. Our veteran ppf installer has been performing this work since the inception of paint protection film. As a team, we are able to push the limits and provide a level of film installation that is beyond average.
While other facilities may let things slide, or give excuses to the client after the fact, we at Toronto Buffing pride ourself on high standards. When we release a vehicle, we assume that our biggest critic may one day inspect the vehicle. Our goal is to leave them with nothing to say.
In the event of any factory or installer defect on our installations, we will replace the film at no cost. We offer a mandatory 2 week follow up with our installs, during which we inspect our work. If we see an issue, we fix it, even if it is not requested.
Unlike others, we have licensed autobody technicians in house, which assist in disassembly of vehicles, in preparation of PPF installations.
Who determines what materials are genuinely the best? Our answer to that is father time. Many materials can be the "best" in certain departments. Some films have the best price, some films have the best short term gloss, and some films are easy to install. What we search for is for film that is high quality, and long lasting. The number one priority is to have the film look exactly how it did the day it was installed, for the maximum amount of time. Everything else does not matter when you are seeking the unequivocal best.
Hexis Bodyfence has outperformed all competitors in independent test. The film boast a lifetime warranty, and was designed and manufactured in France. Self-healing on this film last a very long time, where as competitor films die out within 1.5-2 years. It boast incredible gloss, and hydrophobic behaviours. While the material can be a little temperamental for novice installers. we have mastered use of this film. If you are looking for the best, this is it. And take that from a shop who has used other top brands through the years such as Suntek, Xpel, and Stek.

In this video, a fellow detail shop in the states puts 10 top film brands up to an extreme torture test. In this series, he abuses all films by scratching them, wiping with paint thinner, spray painting them, throwing eggs, severely neglecting them, and more. The results are outstanding, and Hexis Bodyfence came out on top, with Suntek Ultra Film a close second. Can you guess what two films we use at our facility?
Suntek Ultra is a high quality film that boast long term clarity, self healing, and high gloss. This paint protection film company has been around since the inception of PPF, and they are innovators in the field. Toronto Buffing has been installing Suntek Ultra PPF for 10+ years!
